ITINERARY – CANYONING NEVIDIO
Experience one of Montenegro’s most thrilling adventures – canyoning through the majestic Nevidio Canyon!
The season typically runs from late June to late September, depending on weather conditions. Before each season begins, our experienced guides conduct thorough checks to ensure maximum safety and ideal conditions for all participants.
10:00 AM – Pickup from Žabljak & Transfer to Poscenje Village (participants can also meet us directly in the village of Poscenje if preferred)
Your adventure begins with pickup from your hotel in Žabljak and a scenic drive through Montenegro’s dramatic landscapes to Poscenje, one of the country’s most picturesque villages.
Here you’ll find two glacial lakes and the spectacular Skakvica Waterfall, where the Grabovica River plunges from a 70-meter cliff.
Upon arrival, our guides will provide you with all the necessary canyoning equipment – wetsuit, socks, life jacket, and helmet – and walk you through a detailed safety briefing to prepare you for the journey ahead.
Canyoning in Nevidio Canyon – 3 Hours of Pure Adrenaline
The adventure starts at the hidden entrance of the Komarnica River, which mysteriously disappears into the canyon’s narrow, jagged walls – hence the name “Nevidio” (Never Seen).
Most of the canyon remains in permanent shadow due to its steep cliffs, making the conditions challenging and pristine. With its icy waters, tight passages (as narrow as 0.5 meters), and vertical walls, Nevidio is a surreal blend of raw nature – both heavenly and harsh.
You’ll navigate waterfalls, natural pools, narrow gorges, and jump from rock to rock for approximately 3 hours of non-stop excitement. It’s a physical and emotional experience that you’ll remember for a lifetime.
3:00 PM – Traditional Lunch & Return to Žabljak
After conquering the canyon, we’ll take you to a cozy ethno-style restaurant to enjoy a well-deserved, delicious lunch. From there, we’ll safely drive you back to your accommodation in Žabljak.
Important Notes:
Participants must:
- Be at least 11 years old (participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian),
- Know how to swim,
- Not suffering from heart or lung conditions.
- Not have a fear of heights or narrow passages

Nevidio is the last discovered canyon in Europe, located 50 km from Žabljak towards Šavnik and Nikšić. Formed where the Durmitor and Vojnik mountains collided, this awe-inspiring canyon carved by the Komarnica River is one of Montenegro’s greatest natural treasures.

FAQ
HOW LONG DOES PASSING THROUGH THE CANYON TAKE?
The duration of passing through the canyon depends on the group size and physical condition of participants. For the average group of 8 people passing takes about 3 hours.
WHAT IS THE HEIGHT OF JUMPS?
Jumps are 2 - 9 m high.
IS IT NECESSARY TO JUMP ON EACH OF THE JUMPS?
Most of the jumps can be avoided as your guides can assist you with a rope.
WHAT ARE THE AGE LIMITS FOR PRACTICING CANYONING?
The lower limit is about 11 years, depending on the constitution of the child. The upper limit does not essentially exist, as long as someone feels capable of passing through Nevidio.
WHERE CAN WE LEAVE PERSONAL THINGS WHILE THE CANYONING LASTS
You should leave your personal things in your guide’s car that we’ll remain parked near the canyon entrance. Although it is not recommended, it is possible to pack some of the personal things in waterproof bags.
WHAT’S THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT THAT WE SHOULD BRING WITH US?
You need to bring your swimming suit as we provide full equipment. We recommend bringing a towel as you might need it when returning from the canyon.
IS IT POSSIBLE TO COME BACK FROM SOME PLACES IN THE CANYON?
Return is possible only before the first jump, which is about 200-300 meters from the entrance of the canyon.
HOW MANY GUIDES ARE THERE WITH THE GROUP?
It depends on the size of the group. On every 5-6 persons goes one guide. So, if the group counts, for example, 15 people, there will be 3 guides.
CAN WE GO INDIVIDUALLY INTO THE CANYON?
Individual passing is not recommended because it could be extremely dangerous for people who do not know the canyon. In these cases, the tour ends with a rescue service coming to help people go out of the canyon.
ARE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED?
Yes. Reservations are required and 20% advance payment must be received prior to the date of your adventure. Same-day reservations are accepted based on availability, so please call ahead or send us an email.
ARE GRATUITIES ACCEPTABLE?
Absolutely. If your guides contributed to your enjoyment of the day please give them a tip! Gratuities for guides are acceptable and greatly appreciated. And we’d love to hear about it as well. Our guides are some of the most important people in our staff and we want to know when they are doing a great job.
